I hate wimpy rods that bend back so far they have no angle left for tip action when trooling big muskie lures at 5mph. Also.... wimpy rods make my spread narrower instead of keeping the lures away from the boat. Same thing goes for trolling Dipsies for walleyes... the rod needs to have somethong left after loading it up with such resistence. I don't need to spend [$] or more for that kind of rod anymore.

Be sure to measure twice as these bad boys are pretty long, but are well built and perfect for trolling. I used them on my Okuma 15's trolling in the Keys for Mahi and Wahoo. Caught plenty of both, plus hooked a little Tuna. Great Action and control. We even had some fun with some 4-5 foot Cuda's in shallow water just to see how the rods and reels would do....Both Amazing. I asked my buddy how his Peen 30's were treating him and his wallet :-)
Playing with Cuda on the Okuma

Trolling for Salmon,Rainbow Trout either using Boards or Down Riggers. Only rods being used on my boat. Can not beat the performance using light line and small reel (Okuma 20's LC)

I bought this rod to fish for salmon on Lake Ontario, mainly in the spring. This is a nice quality rod but the medium light version is somewhat to light /flexible. I caught a nice 20 lb salmon on this rod, but it does not have enough stiffness to guide this fish to the net at the end of the fight. Also with such a light rod I feel that the hook set might be compromised. I would recommend the medium version 8'6" rod, as it should provide more qualities for trolling for larger salmon. Overall it's a nice rod and I will keep using it.

Good trolling rod, used before in Pend Oreille Idaho

I have the 7,5' ML & 8,5' M downrigger versions.
Both are very lightwight (so I doubt the durability in extended use). The action is on the soft side compared to other rods i'm using for trolling & downriggers(Ugly Stick Tigers). Good quality finnish overall.

Great trolling rods. They are perfect for Dipsey Divers. I bought them as a combo with the Okuma Convector CV-45D reels, and can not wait to buy another new pair to replace my old ones.

Just returned from fishing the west side of Vancouver Island at Nootka Sound. Biggest fish was 36 pound Chinook. The Okuma Blue Diamond performed flawlessly. I purchased because a good friend has fished them for years and I saw how good the rods are. He catches lots of big salmon.
Well worth the money, I purchased another, too.

For trolling on the great lakes this rod is a great choice for the price. It adapts well to heavy wire trolling. The butt end with crosslock seating for rodholders keeps the guides in line with the trolling resistence. The guides are durable enough for several seasons of wire trolling.
