I purchased the 8.5', 9.5', and 10.5' versions of this rod. I use them for trolling Lake Michigan. I run dipsys, boards, downriggers, and pound balls with them. I will be buying more.

I use the rod and reel on the down rigger I bought from USA.com and I love the way they all work and how easy they are to use. THANK YOU!

Comments about Daiwa Daiwa Heartland Trolling Rods:
I've used the heartland rods in many salmon and walleye trolling applications on Lakes Erie and Ontario.
I've been especially happy with a 9'6" (D962HS)
heavy action rod used in ten color (lead core)
applications.
These rods have landed hundreds of salmon and work very well for maneuvering around the other trolling gear because of their length.
The heavy action is useful in the ten color applications because you've got a lot of work to do, reeling in big kings from way back behind the boat.
I've used heartlands for planer board and power pro dipsey applications and five color lead setups with good results.
Never used them on wire dipsey or downrigger setups because I've had other rods dedicated to those purposes. That's not to say they wouldn't work out OK
