Comments about HT Enterprises HT Enterprises Fisherman Tip-Up:

When I got this I modified it by putting a new orange cloth flag on the spring pole to replace the plastic sticker. Also I added some stainless steel washers on the spool to make the drag slide more smoothly. I did catch a 33" nothern pike the first time I used it.....

Comments about HT Enterprises HT Enterprises Fisherman Tip-Up:

These tip-ups are worth twice the money, but luckily for us they are very affordable. Ive used versions (no drag) of this tip-up for around 20 years, and Im still using the original ones I purchased. Ive even had one (mostly) run over by a kid on a snowmobile and it DID NOT BREAK. Ive caught loads of fish on these, from pike to brook trout. They arent idiot proof, so you need to use common sense when packing them up. The biggest thing is to loosen the wing nuts up enough to fold them up. If you dont they will squash the plastic tabs. Removing ice from the cross members helps a bunch too. To avoid large amounts of wind trips, simply dont pull out the flag to full length thus having more tension on the mechanism. This is how to control the sensitivity. You can also slightly bend the trip arm down with pliers to make sure the flag trips consistently. These tip-ups are kind of short, so I keep them within 100 yards of my eyeballs. Being black, and having bright orange flags they do stand out nicely against the snow though. After almost 20 years of use I replaced the fading flags with neon green vinyl. No swelling, no warping (unless you melt them on a heater), and nearly no worries. Light as a feather too. Small diameter braid gives you more yards on the spool in case you have one run a mile. If you take care of them, they will take care of you. Im sure if you have common sense you will like these tip-ups. I love them and will keep adding more to my basket when the wifes not looking.Fish on!

Comments about HT Enterprises HT Enterprises Fisherman Tip-Up:

These aren't the top of the line tip-ups, but they will do the job. I had alittle trouble with one of the flags not wanting to lock in place, but after some adjustment it worked. I only get to ice fish a few times each year, we don't always get ice, and because of that I bought the less expensive tip-ups. If I ice fished alot I would purchase a higher quality tip-up, but these worked ok for what I needed.

Nice tip-up - small nuts
By CuffyVerified Purchaser from Rochester, NY on 2/9/2010

Comments about HT Enterprises HT Enterprises Fisherman Tip-Up:

Easy to use except for the small wing nuts. I would go with wood next time and also with a little drag on the spool.

Item works great, but it takes extra time to setup because you have to loosen bolts too much to unfold cross braces.

Pros:
Dirt cheap
Cons:
Poor Construction, Poor desiegn
Best Uses:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about HT Enterprises HT Enterprises Fisherman Tip-Up:

I wouldn't give these to my worst enemy but then what do you expect for this price.
1)The trip mechanism is lousy and may or may not trip when there is a fish on (good luck trying to adjust them)
2) They wind flag way too easy
3) The line stinks its all twisted up. Right out of the box if you pull off 6 feet of line and let go it turns into a giant twisted ball of knot.(yes I use a swivels)
Do yourself a favor and buy a real tip up you will be much happier. I threw these things away and bought real ones and love the new ones

Last years order better
By tipup63Verified Purchaser from North Dakota on 1/7/2010
Pros:
Durable, Easy To Transport
Cons:
Too Stiff
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about HT Enterprises HT Enterprises Fisherman Tip-Up:

Last years model came with polar line. This year has an empty spool. Positive if needed this model has inches marked off on one of the arms. A little stiffer to set up, vs last year.

It works decently for the price
By KarlVerified Purchaser from South Central, CT on 1/5/2010
Pros:
Affordable, Durable, Easy To Transport
Cons:
Poor Construction
Best Uses:
Large Fish, Small Fish
Describe Yourself:
Avid Fisher
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about HT Enterprises HT Enterprises Fisherman Tip-Up:

Definitely worth it for the price. Comes with some line on the spool, which I had to replace. The wing nuts on the legs are cheap and tend to strip out. The drag works well. The flag design is prone to wind tripping and is sometimes hard to keep behind its catch.

Cons:
none
Best Uses:
Large Fish, Small Fish

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about HT Enterprises HT Enterprises Fisherman Tip-Up:

These tipups are made of plastic and will outlast wooden ones. They can't rot or swell, and screws won't wear through. They also have grooves so all arms lock in place. Only minus is it's hard to replace a staple if one pops or breaks.
