these are nice tip ups, extra weight keeps them from blowing out of hole, only draw back is the metal ring should have a cut in it, to remove line for easier and tighter reel up, hint: hack saw your own cut on the side.

I use these units outside of my spearing shanty.They are easy to transport, set easily and the reels are very durable compared to plastic reels. The spring tension is a very nice feature. The flags are readily visible in snowy weather.

I have a dozen I have used for two years. Two had the reel nuts loosen up, lockers sometimes weren't as good as could be. Flags and other hardware worked very reliable. Wood makes them somewhat heirloom quality to be passed on. The drag set before the flag goes off is a nice touch. This allows the fish to take a few feet of line if you choose before the flag goes off. Over all, a very durable and fine tipup to own. A little pricy but not considering quality over plastic tipups.
