Comments about Okuma Fishing Tackle Corp. Okuma Guide Select Float Rods:
As an entry-level rod, the Guide Select offers good value for the money. It's a little on the soft side for large water, but has a good backbone. As long as you don't hinge the rod, you can put the entire rod to a fish without worry. It's lightweight and easy to work all day. Plenty of sensitivity and control. If you're looking for a good rod to start or as a backup, it's tough to go wrong with the Guide Select. (sliding rings, use electrical tape to stay in place - works well, no problems)

I have only used this rod for steelhead fishing and find that it is up to the job and a pleasure to use.

I have purchased this rod and fish western ny steelhead. first time out with it, i landed a nice 10lb steely. no complaints. this is my first float rod and absolutly love it! I got it about 3 weeks ago and have landed many fish on it already. I thought it was going to be hard to used to, but i picked it up and got a hang of it right away without any problems. I got the okuma aventa reel with this rod and its a great combo!

This rod is absolutley perfect for a beginning float fisher or the experienced. I use this rod for salmon, steelhead, rainbows, and browns. It has very good accuracy, and is very flexible and durable for charging salmon, steelhead, or those monster browns and rainbows. This rod not only looks great, but performs great when you need it most.
