Comments about Okuma Fishing Tackle Corp. Okuma Convector 30D / Blue Diamond Trolling Rod Combo:

First of all these Convectors top any of the Diawa line counters hands down. Myself and lots of friends have used them to power troll for big muskies and kings for years. Other than saltwater that's as good a test as there is. Say no more about the Convector.... unless you like prettier in which case you could spring for the Catalina. No reason though???For a rod with this combo I use the 8 foot heavy. It says "Dipsy Rod" right on it. This means "not wimpy". Not only are the Blue Diamond rods sweet looking this one is versatile. I use it with 50 Mason Tiger Braid for: Muskies off the boat rods, muskies and walleyes of the planer boards, downriggers, as well as for pulling Dipsies or Slide Divers without my rod bending all the way back... yet it has great tip action to handle fast head shakes and to see hits from light biting walleyes with dipsies in front of a harness. The triangular fore grip is awesome for big muskies or for hauling in that 10 pound eye 200+ feet back. I had a friend looking for combos last year. I suggested he buy these. (guinea pig ;-) He bought two. I got to put them to the test (I already knew the reel was tops) I loved them and at the end of the season I bought two. Now I'm getting a third because I put another rigger on the boat AND PA & NY are going to 3 rods per man in 2012. Plus I had some Diawa 27 and 47s sitting around that I knew people would buy. Doh! They paid for this one thank you.I tell everyone I know... if you're in the market for a durable but smooth line counter with a beautiful rod in the size of your choice this is it. AND... I'm an [...] and all that other good stuff: Fish USA has the best price so I already did your homework for you in that department too. Tight lines!!!
