Finesse is the name of the game. Long casts all baits worked slowly. In one morning four Musky caught on 4 lb test " no leader " 38,43,47 and 50. The reels work very well for me and have proved to be problem free.

Unfortunately I bought two of these reels. They both failed to trip the bail when reeling in just after the one year warranty - imagine that. I called US (Chinese) Reel and they denied any warranty. Later I thought I would buy the parts to rebuild these reels. That lasted one more year. They both ended up in the garbage can. BTW, I have many reels over 25 years old, so I am not just some cry baby.

I have two of the 230 SX reels and they preform flautlessly. Very smooth drag and you can throw it a mile. Very little line tangle.

I target Reds on the Texas inshore marsh areas from a Kayak. This reel preforms well under these conditions, not as smooth as some, but all in all it fishes good.

I hesitated and the one year warranty ran out. It was 13 months old with a receipt and they still would not repair the worn out parts. The bail fails to close and needs parts replaced. DON'T waste your money
