Use to use size 30 or 3000 depending on the brand but switched to the 35 and its so much easier to bring in those slabs and big catch fish we are always looking for. Its a larger reel so its naturaly heavier but for a big man with lunchbox hands its all i needed. I bought two and put each of them on 7 foot ugly sticks medium action with the cork handle and they are my goto bass, northern, and steelhead rods...

We use these reels on ultra light rigs with 2 lb test line for ice fishing. Set the drag correctly and fish all day with good hook sets and minimal line breaks when reeling in slab perch, gills and crappies.

I have caught more crappie with this reel so smooth. I love it It has had catfish flathead bass bluegill spoonbill. I have fished it now for 3 years I will buy another one and at [$] its a steal I have had 80.00 dollar reals and they didnt fish this well. very happy

The internal gear that oscillates the spool stripped completely after 6 outings with this reel (ultralight model). I was a big fan until it stopped working, now I probably won't own another Pflueger reel.

wife and I were at big retailer and she has problems with the bail not always tripping properly-(when you are using a spinning reel with infinite anti-reverse you can't 'back up' the reel if you crank the reel too slowly up against the trip mechanism)I was a fishing tackle department manager at one time, and I have fished since I was 6 (40 years)I tried reel after reel for smoothness and ease of bail mechanism in ALL price ranges. well, this reel has such a smooth (but solid)trip mechanism that you can still trip the bail easily. smooth action, solid comfortable handle, smooth steady drag (she tied into a big black drum!)solid construction, quality 'feel', great price

I'm retired and I fish at least four to five times a week on average. I live very close to the water :-). I have both the 4725 with 4 lb test nylon line for crappie/lite fishing and a 4740 with fluorocarbon line on it, yes the fluorocarbon works, for my bass fishing. I have several various kinds of reels but these two always go with me. Also my dealings with FishUSA has been GREAT, which is where I purchased both reels.
