Bought this for my 11 yr old son. He tried it out Sunday, and caught and released his limit. the reel worked perfectly. Well balanced and a smooth drag allowed him to catch several rainbows over 14 inches with no problems.

I take this reel every where.No matter what type or size fish I hook into this reel reacts flawlessly. I can not find any flaws with Okuma reels.

I use these reels on a 8'6" fly rod fishing white perch I catch many bass in the 3 to 4 pound range doing so and the smooth drag is a big plus. Great Reel

I would use this reel for ice fishing and ultra lite fishing. I would put 4lb line or less on reel. It would make a great reel for kids

This is a nice reel for ice fishing or ultra light soft water fishing. The drag is smooth even in very cold conditions and is very smooth feeling for a reel of this price. I own 6 of these now for ice fishing and spring crappie fishing. Good bang for the buck!

This is a great little reel for ice fishing, especially if your using it for panfish. I totally agree with the others who have commented on its smooth drag, it's very smooth and reliable. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I have only used it a few times and so I don't know how long it will remain such a good reel. Great reel for the price!!!

I would rate this reel a 4.7 out of 5 fishes. I was looking for an ultralight spinning reel with a good drag system and this reel fits the bill. I've used the reels on 5 different ice fishing outings catching over 100 trout with no troubles.

I have used many type reels and name brands for cappie and bream fishing (trolling, casting and tight lining)and have found these to be the best and most durable reels for this type of fishing.

I bought this reel to pair with an 18" UL panfish rod. I've been using this reel with 1lb test, and you need a good drag with the light line and this reel has done it's job.

Great reel for jigging and hairlight lures. The only con would be the bail system arm spins back a quarter of a turn. A loop of line may want to jump off the spool when getting ready to cast.
Otherwise, it serves the purpose.

This is a very nice reel for the price. I've been using it for ice fishing and haven't tried to cast with it. The line doesn't get twisted and stays level on the spool while retrieving. The drag is very smooth as well. So far so good, I bought 3.

This is a pretty sweet reel for the price. I purchased it for use with a Celilo rod, also from FishUSA. I use this for crappies and small trout and keep it on hand for the kids home from college, and friends who are occasional fishermen. It's simple to use. The checkbox for line tangles has less to do with the reel than the line you use. As with any reel, find a line that doesn't have a lot of "memory". Just about any decent reel works well with the right type of line. Experiment. I have a number of ultra-light reels and this is as good as some of the more expensive ones. You may or may not find this reel at another website for the same price or less, [...]. You get what you pay for.

Last week, my boy and I spent the week in the High Uintas in Utah. We hiked from lake to lake and used this reel quite a bit. Admitedly, it only has a week on it, but it performed flawlessly. There were about 20 fish caught with it. I only gave it 4 stars because it is to early to tell how long it will last. So far, it is a great reel for a terrific price.

I have found that this reel when loaded with 6# fireline, and a 61/2 ft micro lite rod with im6 graphite can't be beat when dragging the bottom for bluegills. Minimum lead 2 ft up with hook on end of line. I own 4 of these reels, and have set up 5 other friends with the same set-up.

I do alot of pan fishing, and this is the just the right size reel, it is smooth ,and easy to handle. I could not have found a better reel for this type of fishing.

After having used this reel for jigging through the ice, I liked it so much that I purchased 2 more for additional line weights. These reels will get the job done and not break the bank - cheap enough to buy extras, but not cheap on quality.

Yes there are better made and higher priced reels out there, but I'd rather have extra reels for extra versatility than only one expensive reel.
