great all around reel, does not handle 50lb braid well, but that may be the rod. Caught both bass and a few catfish on this reel and handled both better than i expected. for the money this is a great reel hands down.

I'm not like the previous reviewer I can tighten the handle screw, just one of those checks you do before going fishing.
You will not buy a better reel for the bucks PERIOD.
I run a 1000, 2500 for bank fishing & 2 x 4000's on the boat. Have never had any problems EVER, just a little TLC is all it takes

I'm an avid fisherman. I had my first Daiwa 25 years. Gave it away when I thought I would never go fishing again. Ah! Fishing again, bought another small Daiway Regal XiA. Used it four times in the ocean surf. On the fourth, when I cast I heard a plop in front of me. Thought it was my lure. Could not see it. Went for the handle to reel in and guess what - handle gone, down in the sand, big wave took it, bye bye daiwa. Don't want another one. Waant one Made in USA. What's good out there?
