I purchased it for Great Lakes steelhead on a 9' medium fast fly rod. I wish I would have tried it on fresh Fall steelhead when I was having the break off problem. But I did use it during a Winter thaw. I had no break offs on fish that I was sure were going to break the 7+lb tippet. I was trying to get the fish in fast so other fishermen could get their lines back in the water. It will "always" be a part of my hand tied leaders with my 9' fly rod. I only wish it came in clear for when the fish are extra shy in low water conditions.
