Comments about Special Order - XO - off:
The Mepps Comet Minnow was one of the best lures that came out in the 1970s and was in wide use on Shasta and Whiskeytown Lakes in Shasta County California.
It's the availability of the #5 Blade and length that brought the best chances for Largemouth and Spotted Bass, but was a great trolling lure for large Rainbow and Brown trout on either lake.
Sometime in the 1990's, especially in tackle stores on the West Coast, this size of Mepps went surprisingly absent. It was only now that I have been able to find this automatic fish getter in large amounts.
It was using this newly bought lure that gave me my first fish of the year at Shasta Lake, a four pound Rainbow Trout fishing from shore on January 4th.
I would highly recommend this lure size to all fisherman. I would also recommend that tackle stores throughout the West Coast start stocking this size for all those fisherman who believe like I do, bigger lures catch bigger fish!
