Comments about Shimano xxShimano Symetre I Series Spinning Reels disc:

I mainly use baitcasters for casting the crankbaits but will pull the Shimano Symetre out for casting live bait and plastic worms, etc. I mainly slipbobber fish with it but do cast on occasion as well. I use mono line with it and I've had this reel for about 3 years and haven't had any problems with it. It's smooth, graceful, and has great hook set with the anti-reverse on. I've had some other brands that didn't live up to my expectations and that's why I bought this reel. Another reviewer wrote that the bail is hard to trip. I'd say that is true but it's also consistent and not that hard. I've used other brands that trip way to easy and others that worked even harder. I think this is a good blend of the two. I love the reel and I'm glad I have it. My only complaint is that I wish it was cheaper!

I use this reel to surf/shore cast for striper in the summer and for salmon fishing in the fall. It's fine for casting spoons etc. Nice smooth drag.

Comments about Shimano xxShimano Symetre I Series Spinning Reels disc:

I have this on my light tackle gear and use it primarily for fishing a pond near my home on bass and sunfish. The other day I actually caught a 10lbs. catfish with it...thought I found a boot in the pond. The bail is a little stiff and you really have to snap the crank hard to get it to close. It is a very smooth reel though. Worth the money.
