The G. Loomis float reel is elegantly machined in the classic design and features an attractive antique gold anodized finish. The spool is exceptionally free running making for deadly drag-free drifts, cast after cast. It features the classic low reel foot design as well as two wooden handles for easy turning and good grip. The spool can be removed with a Phillips screw driver not included in case your favorite steelhead haunt is also famous for its dirty, muddy stream bed.

Comments about G. Loomis xxG. Loomis Center Pin Float Reel:

I have two GLoomis float reeels. I bought the first one ten to twelve years ago. It has performed flawlessly. I've never had to service it. I only rinse under a cold tap when a little grain of sand or dirt get in it. That's only happened once or twice over the ten years of intense use. I fish it about one hundred twenty to one hundred fifty days a year. I fish for salmon and steelhead in the Great Lakes tributaries. It has the perfect drag free drift in the slowest flow. I have fished several other centerpin reels over the years. Only one or two others compare. They also happen to be from $150 to $500 more. I would recomend this reel to everyone from beginner to professional and everyone else in between. It is the best few hundred dollars that you'll ever spend on tackle, guaranteed! You will not regret it. No it is not too heavy to spin in slow moving waters. No it is not too heavy to fish all day. Just mount it a little further forward on the seat and/or hold the tip of your rod a little higher for better balance. Yes, you can still get a hookset with your tip higher if you have the right set up. Size 8 to 16 hooks are sooooo sticky sharp that even the slighest pressure on the hook will drive it home. Just lift the tip up when you detect(or assume)there may be a strike. Nine of ten times your instincts are right. No need to power snap your hookset. I've seen countless anglers break fish off right on the hookset, thus not even giving themselves an opportunity to fight the fish. It is machined to perfection. It has the smoothest bearings I've used. No need for backing unless you want to drift to Buffalo. What else could you ask for? In conclusion, it is dollar for dollar, the best reel for the money. Thanks and tight lines always.
