The Cortland GRX rod series are designed for outstanding performance and value. These hand-crafted traditional action rods look and feel like more expensive rods, featuring 100% graphite blanks, with tip over butt ferrules. The GRX rods sport smooth, sanded black blanks, with black wraps trimmed in silver, and a woven graphite reel seats cork on the 3-4 to save weight. All rods also feature cork handles, up-locking reel seats sliding band rings on the 3-4 and 4-5 and hook keepers.

This rod is advertised as being a higher end model than the price indicates and it truly is. My son got the 7.5' 4/5 and I was so impressed with it I bought the 8.5' 5/6 to replace an old Orvis I've fished with for years. This rod has great tip sensitivity and more than enough spine for large fish. Extremely well constructed with many features found on more expensive rods. I think the 7.5 4/5 is maybe slightly underpowered with a 5 WF line and could easily handle a 6. The 8.5 5/6 does very well with a 6 WF.
