Comments about St. Croix of Park Falls, Ltd. St. Croix Ice Rod-Reel CasesOff:

The only downside to this awesome reel case is that your rods have to be about 24 inches in length so that they are secured. There is a velcro strap to keep the rods tied down, but it is 24 inches away from the bottom of the case. You will have to close the reel handles to allow two rods/reels to be stowed. If you are using TINY ultra light, compact reels, they should fit without closing the handles.

It does make for a very convenient mode of transportation for your gear. If you are going to KEEP IT LIGHT because you either have a long walk or just an hour or two, this is the ticket. It will carry 2 rods and reels and the pouch on the side can carry one or two smaller boxes of jigs or plastics, forceps and a measuring device. There is a carry SLING so that you can just sling it up over your shoulder and go. Auger or spud in one hand and your essentials in this very nice rod/reel case on your shoulder.

It is very functional and serves its purpose well. If you can sew, you can probably cut and then slide the velcro strap down lower, or just go and purchase a velcro strap at a big box store and attach another velcro strap down lower in the case to aid in securing the rods/reels. That is what I am planning to do. Most of my ice fishing rods are under 24 inches.

The pouch measures 8 inches X 4 inches and is about 1.5 inches deep.

The case will hold up to a 32 inch rod--maybe 33, it measures from the bottom to the top at about 33 inches.

So far there hasn't been a real issue with the velcro strap being at 24 inches. The rods might move a little, but no rash or damage has been seen. All in all, I am glad that I purchased this case. It is very nice, does what it was intended to do and then some. Looks pretty cool too. The price is perfect for this rod / reel carrying case.

4/5 fish
Only reason being St. Croix should have added another velcro strap to secure shorter ice fishing rods.

For the price and compared to other designs its a good value. Can really only get 2 rods in case and the handles must be pointed down. It does keep them from getting beat up when your traveling on the ice.
