Use the XR08 in perch for pike. Landed 4, missed a few others and had half a dozen follows to shore. I will be buying more.

Comments about Rapala / Normark Rapala X-Rap XR Series Lures:
I run a fishing guide service on Lake Gatun in the Republic of Panama. The first of these I bought was in the clown color pattern, I thought well it is worth a try. I was absolutely amazed the Peacock Bass were literally chasing them to the boat. I then loss the four I had bought due to fish taking them home with them. So I searched and could only find the Fire Head pattern and thought well maybe they would hit it too. Sure enough they seem to like it just as well. While these lures are in the middle of the price spectrum the work better and catch more fish than lures twice their price. Since my initial purchase, I have bought more than 20 of these lures and most recently 13 from FishUSA.com By the way, I lost two of these today. One to a Tarpon about 4 feet long and the other to an unknown species. (Yes, there are Tarpon in Lake Gatun.)
Peacock bass I caught on Rapala XRap

The X-rap is an excellent crankbait. Great action and irresistable to most predators. I've caught numerous baracuda and calico bass on this lure.
Not the longest casting lure but when it's part of a balanced rod, reel and line you can fire it a good distance.

When the smallies are staging in pre spawn,in shallow to mid depths.Just before spawn when the fish are searching out there beds, water temps 45 to 50 degrees.
Vary your jerk pause retrieve, experiment to find out what they want.Colder the water the longer the pause.
Hang on cause there gonna crush em!!

Excellent to fish Tucunaré (Peacock Bass) and Robalo (Snook), as much in river estuary, as in lakes

Great to use for smallmouth with the XR10 being a good search Lure, and then hone in on them with the XR-8 I love silver and olive, but actually like clown in murky water. As the water temperature gets colder make a longer pause before your jerks and the fish get more time to react.
