Since it floats, I've used it for trout fishing. I haven't caught anything with it yet, but today I only caught 2 fish. But I'm not giving up yet, I've still got all summer.

Comments about Berkley Berkley PowerBait Power Eggs - Magnum:
Has anyone noticed the difference in the formula of the new Magnum floating eggs. I found the new eggs are soft and can be mushed between the index finger and thumb unlike the old rubber eggs that didn't mush up. Also they don't stay on the hook very well like the old eggs. Also there is a light oil now in the bottle. I called Berkley and a fellow from customer service told me he found the eggs to be soft also. You couldn't beat the old style eggs for trout fishing . I bought 15 bottles from Fish USA . I don't think the fish like the new eggs as well as the old eggs. I would appreciate any input about the new eggs .I hope they change back to the old formula soon.
Thank you

Comments about Berkley Berkley PowerBait Power Eggs - Magnum:
I USE THE EGGS ON A SMALL TRUTURN HOOK, ONE OR TWO. HAVE NEVER CAUGHT LESS THAN 20 EVER SINCE I STARTED USING THEM. ONE DAY I CAUGHT 75 IN A STOCKED RIVER HERE IN JAPAN. COULD SEE MY EGG WHEN IT DISSABEARD I SET THE HOOK. HAVE NEVER USED NOTHING ELSE. HAVE USED THEM FROM THE TIME THEY CAME OUT. HAVE TO USE FINESS AND WATCH BAIT. STOCKED FISH ARE VERY WEARY HOWEVER THE EGGS WORK. THEY STAY ON AND IRRESTABLE, ESPECIALLY THE FLOATING IN FLORESENT ORANGE. I USE ULTRA LITE TACKLE NO SINKER. AM ALWAYS TRYING NEW THINGS. I FISH AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK. HAVE NOTHING BAD TO SAY.

I put 2 eggs on a small hook. We fish for Trout, mostly. It is not slimy, my wife can bait her own hook. We catch fish when everyone else around us is looking to see what bait were using.

I have used the magnum eggs for quite a few years for winter trout fishing here in Texas. Rigged with an egg sinker, the bait floats off of the bottom and the trout can grab them without feeling any resistance.

Use a #14 gold treble a foot or so below split shot(s). Two eggs will keep the hook floating and since trout are visual feeders a must.

Comments about Berkley Berkley PowerBait Power Eggs - Magnum:
I use these in combo with Berkley 3" trout Power Worms while drifting/floating. They stay on the hook well and the floating action keeps the rig off the bottom. Trout love them. White tends to be best but chartruse and orange can produce at times.

Comments about Berkley Berkley PowerBait Power Eggs - Magnum:
I ordered 5 different colors for a trout fishing trip on the White River in Lakeview, AR. I never got to try any of them except for the pink. They worked so good that I didn't need to try any of the other colors. I used these on a river rig with nightcrawlers. The trout couldn't resist this! I tried using the night crawlers without the power egg also. I didn't get anywhere near the bites doing this, honestly. Maybe I'll get to try the other colors before to long. If your trout fishing GET THE PINK ONES!

Comments about Berkley Berkley PowerBait Power Eggs - Magnum:
All of my past time consist of trout fishing. I enjoy fishing the Smith River. These powereggs, I believe are the best artificial bait I have ever fished with. There not like the powerbait and you jerk it off. It stays on the hook. I have caught around 10-12 ciatation rainbows and brooks off these eggs. There is no doubt in my mind, i know ive caught 10-15 fish off the same two eggs. You cant beat em, they float well, they are scented, and stay on the hook

Comments about Berkley Berkley PowerBait Power Eggs - Magnum:
With Berkley Power Bait eggs I have caught many brown and rainbow trout at Ashfield Lake and Littleville Lake in Western Massachusetts. The trout are all good size - over 14 inches and the bait works great when all other types of bait fail. The power bait has been extremely reliable and I go back to it time and time again. The trout hit it hard and run with it - I love all the action.

Comments about Berkley Berkley PowerBait Power Eggs - Magnum:
These power eggs work great! They are not messy like the paste bait. I use 2 eggs at a time on a #8 hook. I always catch more then one trout on the same eggs. The eggs stay on the hook really well. Rainbow and Sunrise work best for me.

Comments about Berkley Berkley PowerBait Power Eggs - Magnum:
These eggs work great on a #6 or #8 hook with a weight about 18" up the line. I never fail to limit out. Love 'em! The only thing I was disappointed in was the 'sparkle eggs'. The glitter just washes off. I had assumed they were molded into the eggs. They still caught fish though. I have the best luck on 'Sunrise' and 'Chartreuse' colors.
Comments about Berkley Berkley PowerBait Power Eggs - Magnum:
Best trout bait for those who hate live worms, etc.
They will NOT spoil either!
Comments about Berkley Berkley PowerBait Power Eggs - Magnum:
These eggs are now the only bait we use for bottom fishing or drifting under a bubble. They stay on the hook like nothing else. It is common to use the same eggs to catch several fish. We prefer the glitter orange and glitter chartreuse colors in the Central Sierra of CA. Durable enough for trolling, I add one to a piece of nightcrawler or use the eggs alone.

Comments about Berkley Berkley PowerBait Power Eggs - Magnum:
Had very limited success using worms and marshmallows at local stocked trout ponds. Lots of nuisance bites from bluegill and tiny bass. Switched to these magnum eggs and limited out on two successive weekend outings of a couple hours each. Seemed only trout would bite these eggs-- very nice. Tried fluorescent yellow, fluor. orange, and pink. Caught trout only on the orange so far.
Son enjoying the catch

Comments about Berkley Berkley PowerBait Power Eggs - Magnum:
There are 2 great reasons I use power eggs. First of all I can fish them with confidence knowing that if I get a bite and miss the hook set, I still have bait, while paste users play the guessing game;"did he rob me or is there still something on there?"
For years,I can't tell you how many times I've been trout fishing, missed my hook set and simply laid the line back down on the bottom to have the fish return to hit it again!
I also find it easy to use. slide 2 to 3 eggs on (depending on the size hook you use) and work it off a sliding weight. When the going is slow, change colors or I prefer to use an attractant. Don't forget to adjust leader lengths when fishing the bottom.
My main concern about the product is availability. Most stores don't carry many colors. I now buy 80% online Greg Robinson Portland OR

Comments about Berkley Berkley PowerBait Power Eggs - Magnum:
These are the bomb, period. Fish these with a #14 or #16 treble hook on a 2-3 ft. leader on a Carolina rig and you can't go wrong. I like to use 3 eggs still connected, 2 covering 2 of the hooks and 1 left exposed. I've caught 6 trout with the same 3 eggs before. The bait is reuseable, is extremely bouyant and doesn't go flying off the hook on a nice strong cast like dough baits do. These are superior to the Gulp! eggs as they do not dry out and are harder to rip. The jar may be small, but you really get more use out of it than dough. If you fish streams, this is the one for you! The current won't rip your bait off the hook. I highly recommend the Chartreuse Magnums with scales. It is by far, my favorite. If you haven't tried these yet, you are really missing out.

Comments about Berkley Berkley PowerBait Power Eggs - Magnum:
I use power eggs more than using Powerbait when it comes to fishing for Trout. Even though you still have to use the paste from time to time i get more hook sets on eggs than i do the paste. The fish have the ability to return to your bait and hit it again without loosing the bait from the first strike.
Comments about Berkley Berkley PowerBait Power Eggs - Magnum:
We fish from a canoe, and on land, the fish seem
to love it, if they are biting that is. The power
bait is easy to put on any size hook, especially
in a canoe. I've caught my largest trout 22" rainbow last summer using magnum power bait. I orginally purchased from a small bait store and
used what I had, when I went back to purchase more it was out of stock, I was so delighted to find magnum power bait w/ sparkles at fish usa.com
I have given away some but mostly keep it to myself. Makes a great gift for any person who loves catching trout.
