When I use the Gulp I am usually catching more than anyone else around me. My only complaint is that it is softer than regular PB, and will come off easier.

Comments about Berkley Berkley Gulp! Dough Trout Bait Jarred:

The trick I learned is instead of a plain treble hook, use a cheese hook (one with a small coil of wire around the shank) have to use a tad more bait for the added weight, but it is worth it for the bigger fish.

Comments about Berkley Berkley Gulp! Dough Trout Bait Jarred:

roll finger tip size ball, Always use red bait or treble hook sz 8-10. Squeeze ball down to match length of hook, this also resembles cocoon or pupae. I use it with a float about three feet from hook to start, then gradually move float up foot by foot till ya hit the honey hole. After 15 years of trout fishin this is by far best for rainbows.

Comments about Berkley Berkley Gulp! Dough Trout Bait Jarred:

I fish for trout in a unique lake fishery in Southwest Missouri and teach tourists a simple way to catch fish. I get a lot of practice and this is far and away the most effective bait, Even better than plugs and spoons. In seven years, I have tried almost everything out there. I always recommend it to my students.

Comments about Berkley Berkley Gulp! Dough Trout Bait Jarred:

I found the Gulp Power Bait to be a little too soft to stay on the treble hook well; I never know if it stayed on the hook after casting out. I contacted FishUSA (fast responce to my email)and was told to keep it cool, so I put it in a ice chest with cold packs when I used it the second time at a local fishing derby, the weather was so cold I could not hardly feel my fingers and it made little difference on the bait hardness. So for this reason only I don’t give it high marks. As a side note I love the Berkley power bait never had a problem with it staying on the treble hook.

When I applied it to hooks on a couple of lures, it seemed that I had to cast out less times before I had a fish on the line. I liked it. Seemed to do better than regular berkeley power bait.
