Bought this line while it was on sale. It did very well for hookups on casting and spinning reels. For Fresh Water Fishing it is a very good line! Changing it to most of my reels.

have used this line for 20 years and keep coming back to it...best value for copolymer line
Comments about McCoy McCoy Mean Green Co-Polymer Line:
The user should consider doubling the normal quantity of line that fills the reel since the line diameter is half the normal diameter. The suppleness and diameter of the line lend itself to greater sensitivity and higher creel count.

Started out using Trilene XL 35 years in the ago which I do like. Switched to McCoy Mean Green when I moved to CA. 20 years ago. Took a break from it last year and tried most of the new fancy ones with names sold in all stores. For me none of them were as good as this line, I'm back to Mean Green and will stay with it. You may not be able to find it in most chain stores but there are plenty of places on the internet that have it. You won't lose a big one with this line as long as you tie the knot correctly.

I've been using McCoy Mean Green for the longest time and I have never been disappointed with this line. The green color seems almost invisible to fish and I've used it from sparkling clear water to off-color, stained water. In a pinch, I've even used it as a leader for steelhead and had no drop off in hook-up rates.
One major plus is the line thickness; the line is generally a size or two smaller than traditional mono of the same weight class. The 8lb McCoy is almost the same thickness as 4lb mono!
The knot strength is second to none and I lose very few fish due to line breakage. The line is pretty good as far as abrasion resistance and I do check it frequently, especially if I'm using it as a leader.
The only problem this line seems to have is a short shelf life. I've found that after the spool sits for a while, the line strength greatly decreases; this is true of all monofilament lines, so I don't hold it against them too much.
At the very least, I would recommend trying it out. Before long, you'll be using McCoy.

I use the 8 and 10 lb. test for spinning reels and mostly for a trick worm with a Gamagatsu Octopus circle hook. This is really great line. It doesn't tangle easily and I have not broken off. I caught an 8 lb 11 oz bass on TOHO in cover with this line(10 lb) on a redbug trick worm with a 3/0 circle hook. Very nice line.

I'm hooked. McCoys passed my test with flying colors.Landing 5 to 10 pound steelhead over and over was my ultimate test. great knot strenght, no break offs no strech. easy to cast and no tangles or twists.4lb.test very small diameter and very strong.
