The Sheffield Floats are constructed of crystal clear plastic with your choice of Flo. Chartreuse, Flo. Orange or Flo. Pink hi-vis tops. These floats have a slot in the bottom section to put the line through, and come with silicone tubing to hold the line in place on the top and bottom of the float.

Comments about Sheffield Sheffield Floats:

These are great for the low and clear water situations while float fishing. These things float great. The only downside to these is that they break pretty easily. I personally would recommend balsa floats for all other water conditions as they are much harder to break.

Great Floats
By mikec17Verified Purchaser from Westchester. NY on 2/17/2011

Comments about Sheffield Sheffield Floats:

I first used these floats on a drift boat at the Salmon River while drifting for Steelhead, I liked them so much I bought some when I got home.
They are well made & cast easily. I find the orange ones a little easier to see. I use these now for trout fishing on small streams, drifting flies, small minnows or eggs on spinning gear.

Cons:
A little pricey
Best Uses:
Fresh Water, Shore Casting
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:

Comments about Sheffield Sheffield Floats:

I use these floats for all my steelhead and trout fishing with sacs, live bait, flies, beads, you name it. Very low visibility, easy to use, drift nicely, cast well. Worth every penny, but not the cheapest float on the market. Throwing these in the trees gets expensive.

No idea how to put them on the line.
By steelhead fishermanVerified Reviewer from Johnstown, PA on 12/6/2009
Pros:
Easy To Store
Describe Yourself:
Avid Fisher
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Sheffield Sheffield Floats:

Don't assume that these are self-explanatory to apply to fishing line. Let me see a picture of where the line goes etc.

FishUSA.com Response: In order to use these floats please follow the directions below.

Step 1 Sheffield floats have silicon tubing on the top and bottom that pinch the line in place. Remove the tubing from the top first and place the line through the tubing.
Step 2 Place the tubing with the line back on the top of the float. Remove the lower piece of tubing from the float and place the end of the line through the tubing. Replace the tubing and line back on the lower end of the float.

Steelhead can't see them.
By Rod ZVerified Purchaser from Franklin. PA on 10/30/2009
Pros:
Easy To Handle, Easy To Store, Good For Variety Of Fish, Strong
Best Uses:
Fresh Water
Describe Yourself:
Avid Fisher

Comments about Sheffield Sheffield Floats:

I use the two smaller sizes of these floats for steelhead fishing with sucker spawn flies using my spinning rod. Properly weighed they are easy to see while appearing invisable to the fish. I use both colors depending upon the time of day and the amount of light. No negatives.

The best floats
By TheRockVerified Purchaser from Clarksburg, W.V. on 7/31/2009
Pros:
Casts Well, Easy To Handle, Easy To Store, Great strike indicator, Light weight
Cons:
Breaks on impact, Extra time to rig, Loose on line breaking
Best Uses:
Driftfloat fishing
Describe Yourself:
Avid Fisher
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Sheffield Sheffield Floats:

Rigging requires the line through a tubing washer on the top and the line threaded through a hole in the float at the bottom. Takes a few minutes but worth the effort. I hate to loose these floats if my line breaks on a snag. Light enough to show strike if matched right to line weights. Makes a great "ploop" when a trout strikes and fish on!

Sheffield Floats are top of the line
By EJVerified Reviewer from Dundee, Michigan on 11/26/2008
Pros:
Durable, Good Value, High Quality
Cons:
Cracks when hit on rocks
Best Uses:
Well balanced float
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Sheffield Sheffield Floats:

I use primarily #7.0, 2- 3/0 split shot below the float, then a barrel swivel. Below that is my flurocarbon leader and hook. I use 3 BB split shot on the leader. This is an incredible set up. This works in all applications of Ohio, Pennsylvania, as well as New York streams. I can't say enough about these floats. I prefer them over the Drenans.
