The StrikeMaster Magnum power ice auger, formerly the Mag 2000, was designed to meet the needs of the most ardent ice fisherman. The OMNILON handle system creates a reliable, lightweight and tough platform for the redesigned polymer transmission. This transmission features a 40:1 gear ratio with heat treated gears to maximize the total power and performance of the heavy duty 2.0 HP Solo 2 cycle engine. The engine also features a rust-proof gas tank that allows the operator to see the gasoline level.

The Strike Master Magnum 8.25 inch cuts very quickly with only a 2hp motor. The Solo German motor starts well and warms up fast. Fits in my Otter sled behind the snow mobile and weighs only 25lbs. For the value in the low $300's you can't beat this auger.

Buying this product is a dream come true. I am very pleased with the power, performance, and ease of use. I had difficulty starting it and maintaining any prolong use until I figured out that the hose in the gas tank was flat against the gas cap therefore restricting suction within the tank to enable a sustain engine run. I pushed the hose away (further into the tank) from the gas cap, closed the gas cap and "Boo Yah, Purrs like a Kitten!"

Hi, On the second day of use, on the second pull, it would not rewind. Lots of pull cord was hanging out. I removed four screws and rewound the recoil. I did contact Strikemaster and they advised via video and over the phone there was an issue with the wrong grease and they pointed me to a video for a field repair and they sent me a new recoil assembly. Easy to use and easy to start. No problems since.

Had one problem with the Magnum. Worked well on initial start-up but when left out in the garage overnight, I had problems with the recoil. Took recoil apart cleaned off the excess grease sprayed it down with WD-40 recoil works great now. Too much grease or wrong type from the factory.

It says warm up for one to two minutes before drilling. I do it and mine runs like its new 6 years in.
