The St. Croix Premier Ice Rod and Reel Combo features the St. Croix Premier ice rod, matched with a St. Croix PS250 Ice Reel. Premier Ice Rods feature a solid carbon blank, stainless steel guides and traditional cork handles. The PS250 front-drag ice reels feature an aluminum body, aluminum spool, three ball bearings, left or right hand retrieve, and infinite anti-reverse for quick hook-sets.

I purchased the 28" Med action model with St Croix reel. St Croix make quality fishing rods at moderate prices. The fit and finish on the rod is nice. It is sensitive and quite strong in the medium action. The reel is fine for what it is (decent drag etc.) however the bail is a little stiff (but not annoying) when first engaging. Overall I am quite satisfied

This is a good deal. Rod is well constructed. Smooth reel operation. Handles decent sized trout well. I had a little trouble getting the reel bands to shrink down on the rod handle but after a second try with extra heat they clamped down well.

I bought the "medium light" action pole so I could use it for perch AND walleye. I live in western NY where we get LOTS of ice time so the outfit should get a real workout this season. The included reel is a little on the "stiff" side as far as the bale closing but hopefully that will change with usage
