this works good but if you got a rod with a shorter handle it will not say in place. There are better rod holders out there.

i use mine strictly for ice fishing with small ice rods.some holders may need to be bent a little to work with different size rod handles.i also mounted mine on boards to keep in place a little easier

I purchased the rod holder for Ice Fishing with my 24" rod. First thing I realized is that the length of my rod was too short, for the rod to sit all the way back in the holder. Plus the rod tip was angled up too high.
Both problems were easily fixed: I held onto the base and bent the holder downward slightly, so my rod was parallel to the ice. I also adjusted angle of the rod so the butt of the rod rested under the the main wire shaft, and rod sat cradled in front of rod holder.
This actually made it easier for me to grab the rod and remove it from the holder, when I got a bite.
Caught lots of Trout that day. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.
