These lightweight disc drag reels feature the functionality of the POP Cassette system at a great price. They have a large cork-brass disc drag with a 360 degree drag cover. They also have a wood impregnated handle. These reels are injection molded steel. The POP Cassette system makes it simple to change lines as conditions change.

Extremely robust and functional systems at very low prices. Have used Sth reels exclusively for the past 15 years (own five today) and have purchased them for my adult children also. Have caught 15 lb silvers and kings in Kamchatka with the MR-POP 1.5 without difficulty. Have used the Sth Sea M3 for sea run browns (15-29 lb) in Tierra Del Fuego. Wouldn't consider any other reel.

I bought a STH type 3 fly-reel last year and it looked like a good buy at first but after I had used it for two fishing trips the main shaft came loose and finally broke.[...]This might have been a one time incident but I would not recommend this reel to anyone.

I have a dozen premium fly rods, and a range of fly reels. This reel has an excellent smooth drag, and with the inexpensive casettes, makes it a great value.
