We used these things years ago with a lot of success. Bought some to use with some new Big Johns, getting back into fishing on Lake Ontario. Easy to use when stacking, but they do take some practice when adjusting trigger tension. I'm not a big fan of using rubberbands.

Works well.

BEST RELEASE FOR DOWNRIGGER. HAVE USED THEM FOREVER IT SEEMS. BEST ON LARGER FISH CHINOOK,LAKE TROUT,LARGE WALLEYE, ETC. WITH LARGER FISH AS TARGETS CAN BE CRANKED DOWN HARD AND NO-NONSENSE RELEASES SO AGGRAVATING LET GO'S WITH NOTHING ON DOESN'T HAPPEN. STACKABLE, AND CAN FISH LIKE 14 RODS OFF OFF A 24'L-8' BEAM BOAT, MORE ON A 40'L 12' BEAM.
