The Rio WindCutter Spey lines were developed for those learning to spey cast and for the angler that likes to shoot line for distance. Spey casting requires a different line design than regular overhead casting with a weight forward line. The head length needs to be longer to enable the spey cast to anchor easily and it needs to be heavier than a comparable standard fly line.

I just spooled up my new 6/7 weight spey rod with the 6/7/8 WindCutter and it loaded the rod perfectly. Right out of the box I was able to acheive in excess of 75 feet with the only limitation being the width of the body of water I was fishing. I can't wait to get it out on a larger river. I really like RIO's line recomendations on their website to find the perfect match for your rod. The only fault I could find is my rod wasn't listed. I just took their recomendations for similar rod's and purchased accordingly. As a Northern California Steelhead/Salmon guide I can definitely endorse this product along with any product RIO produces. I will be sure to recomend this to my clients and colleagues.
