Improving on the Chronarch A (circa 1993), the new Chronarch Mg utilizes new technologies, advancements in design, and new materials that have entered the market over the last decade. The new Chronarch Mg has been adapted for newer fishing techniques and saltwater flats fisherman. Plus, the Chronarch Mg's magnesium frame is safe for use in saltwater and provides an extremely lightweight reel.
Of course there are also many of the exciting features that were introduced during Chronarch A's illustrious lifetime: Super Free Bearing Supported Pinion Gear System (SF) and Anti-Rust Bearings (A-RB).
The magnesium used in the Chronarch Mg is an extremely lightweight metal that reduces the overall weight of the reel. Without a special protectant, magnesium is usually highly corrosive in saltwater. Yet, the magnesium parts in these reels are specially treated to protect them from premature corrosion or damage from saltwater use. So go ahead, fish the flats, fish the backwaters and rest assured, Shimano has protected your investment!
