Scientific Anglers -
In 1945, friends and anglers Leon Martuch, Clare Harris, and Paul Rottiers founded Scientific Anglers in Midland, Michigan. Their goal was to produce new, modern fly lines to replace the silk lines of old. In 1952 Scientific Anglers began developing the first modern plastic-coated tapered fly line. In 1954 Scientific Anglers introduced its new lines called Air Cel - widely considered the first modern floating fly lines. Since those early days, Scientific Angler continued with the evolution of fly line with innovations such as the use of microballoons, powdered tungsten and silicon and new technologies such as Advanced Shooting Technology and adding texture to fly lines. Today Scientific Anglers offers one of the widest selections of lines available. From Trout to Tarpon, single-hand to spey, 70 years of Scientific Anglers technology goes into each product they make.
