The Redington RS3 fly fishing outfits offer a broad series of fresh and saltwater outfits for nearly any situation. The machined cork-drag black CD reel coupled with the new RS3 rod provide a beautifully balanced system. In addition to the rod and reel, the outfit includes a matched Redington weight-forward floating line, a knotless tapered leader, a spool of 20 pound test backing and a Cordura covered rod and reel carrier.
The Redington RS3 series (formerly RS2 series) are classic, high performance rods. Redington improved the blank composition, cosmetics and finishes, but kept the prices at previous levels. These rods which come in the outfits are available in two piece and four piece travel models.
All the RS3 models in weights 2 through 6 have the wood reel seat insert, the models in weights 7 through 10 have the stainless reel seat and a small (non-removable) fighting butt. These handles are shown in the images below.
7 to 10 weight rods
The CD reel which come in the outfit has features often only available in more expensive reels. It is made of anodized machined 6061 barstock aluminum, and is a "mid arbor" style (between a regular arbor and a large arbor reel). The "CD" stands for its center drag mechanism that includes a cork drag washer. The CD reel in the outfit is black.
