Description

The VMC 9171 Siwash Hooks feature an open eye making these the easiest way to replace hooks on any spoon or lure with or without split rings. VMC has tempered the hook eyes to be soft enough to bend into place yet are still hard enough to endure pressure from large fish. The hooks are constructed form high carbon steel and have a saltwater safe Perma Steel finish. These hooks have VMC's cut points for durability and holding power. The 9171 is a favorite among salmon and steelhead anglers around the globe.

The VMC 9171 Siwash Hooks have the following features:

  • Open eye
  • High Carbon Steel Construction
  • Deep bend Siwash design
  • Perma Steel finish
  • Cut points

Available sizes: 3/0 - 1

All VMC 9171 Siwash Hooks come 25 per pack.

I've used this hook in the Jersey surf and in the Great Lakes... no complaints... reliable, strong, good length on the shank, holds an edge well and doesn't break the bank... I'm currently using # 2 and 1/0 on spoons and some larger spinners with good results.

THIS IS A VERY GOOD TRAILER HOOK OR TREBLE HOOK REPLACEMENT FOR METAL LURES. I PREFER TO CATCH & RELEASE MY FISH SO I ALSO DREMEL DOWN THE BARB NOT TO INJURE THE FISH.

Pros: VERY SHARP, STRONG, FRESH OR SALT, ADD BUCKTAIL STREAMERS
Cons: NONE
Best Uses: BLUE FISH, STRIPED BASS, LARGE TROUT & SALMON

About Me:

I use these hooks to replace trebles on saltwater plugs. They are convenient and very easy to use. I've found that I still catch as many fish, but releasing them is much easier and there is far less harm done than with multiple trebles. The only negative I can say, is the saltwater protective coating wears off relatively quickly. A occaisional light rub with steel wool will prolong the life of the hook however. Overall, I think these hooks are a great value.
Pros: Easy To Handle
