X-Rated is the only mono I've used for the past five years. I use 12# and 15# on my 7 ft to 8 ft plugging/jigging rods in the surf and back bays when targeting stripers, weakies, blues, and flounders. I use 20# for offshore bottom fishing and when tautog fishing around jetties.
You can't beat it especially for the price.

I have found this line highly effective with spooks and pop r's etc. it floats really well and that keeps the bait on top with retrieve. I like it with crankbaits also. it is very strong and sesitive for co-polymer. I am not for sure that the company is still marketing this line,(they didnt do a very good job of that to begin with) I found this line through alot of trial and error with other brands etc. I think it will no longer be available, some retailers are discontinuing it, and could not get on there website also. I hope the line stays around it is the best I have found for cranking and topwaters. I will continue buying it as long as it is on the market. try the 12 lb. for cranking excellent in wood and deep water cranking and the 15 lb. is excellent for topwater. its weird the line doesnt make much disturbance on the water when retrieving spook.
Pros:
Easy casting
,
Strong
,
Easy To Handle
Cons:
None
Best Uses:
Fresh Water
,
Top water plugs
,

the first reason I bought this line was the fair price. I have tried using several different lines, and only liking the florocarbon line. the only problem i had with florocarbom was with the 12lb and under line, it seemed like it broke off alot, or just wore out to quick. I still use floro on my jigs and worms, but for crankin, i use the "X". fishing a trophy lake here in ar. with alot of timber. I would retie after a few catches, was so impressed with line in the timber, I would not retie all day, just to see if it would break. I had amazing results.

I bought 2 spools of this one in 6lb and one in 8lb. They both had poor knot strength and was breaking off small catfish just setting the hook on them. The line would break at the knot one time then 4 foot from the knot the next time.
