I am just getting started with fly tying. looked at several kit available that where more expensive but decided on this one because it has all the basic tool that are of good quality at a low price compared to the ones at sporting good stores I like that the base is attached to the case so you don't have to clamp it to a table the vice is ok for starting but I will upgrade it when I get more experience

Pros: Good Value, Price, Functional, Portable

About Me:
It was obvious that my strength was a bit much for this vise although this item allowed me to decide if I wanted to tie my own flies, it ended up failing under a normal usage. It is not expensive and I can not complain as I was able to get a feel for this side of the sport. The top piece came off (broke), it seems that all of the pressure ends up at the top of the stem when you go to secure your hook. This vise makes a great gift and packs away nicely, overall great price.

Pros: Price, Portable, Great gift

Cons: Top brass color material

the kit has everything you need to start tying. I had researched similar kits for 20 bucks more money and this one is certainly better. you can't beat the price for a starter kit. the tools are worth the price I paid for the whole kit. nice box. will probably pass on to my grandson when I buy a more expensive set. good value.

Pros: Good Value

I just wanted a fly kit so I could tie my own rubber spiders in the store they cost between 1.48 & 1.98 each. I bought the bodies, leg material, thread, fly head cement & hooks and can tie them myself for about .31 each. I watched videos on youtube on how to tie them, soon as it was delivered I opened the box and started right in. I tied up 24 of them in in about 2 hours. It was fun and I love this kit. The only thing I could say you may want to purchase in the future is another bobkin or two for different color thread, but not a big deal it only takes a minute to rethread using the treading tool that comes with the kit. also I looked all over the internet and this is the best deal out there. Keep an eye out for me on you tube using this product.

Pros: Best value

Nice tool kit, I use this to tie mostly saltwater bucktails, and occasionally panfish flies for fishing with the grandkids. Provides a good assortment of tools for someone who is getting started, or someone like me who hasn't tied in a long time. The vice holds larger saltwater hooks, and #12-#14 panfish hooks with no problem. Quality is good, at least nothing has broke yet. The portability is a big plus, as I often tie at the kitchen table.

Pros: Good Value

Cons: None

Best Uses: Salt Water, Fresh Water

I recently bought this and I'm surprised for the quality and concept of this item. My model is a small one so it has a great use for the trout tying. However I tested the vise and tools using a big hook to mount a trolling fly and kept it strongly, did the job very nice. The tools kit is very extended and seems to me to be good quality. The tools size is not reduced, they are normal and confortable size. It's made in India. Wooden box is very good looking and practical, both for travel and storage. I'm thinking to keep this kit and buy a bigger vise for big size hooks tying and using the same tools kit this small box includes.

Pros: Easy To Maintain, Easy To Use, Functional

Cons: none

Best Uses: Fresh Water, Ice Fishing, Traveling

Great Beginners Kit

About Me:

This is a great beginners set, heck I've been tying on it for almost 3 years and it's held up great. For the price if you don't enjoy fly tying/fishing you're not out much money at all! The tools included are good quality, the only item I've added is a second bobbin. The one bad thing is the vise will rotate at times, it is difficult to tighten the base/stem set screw enough.

Pros: Easy To Use, Functional, Durable

Cons: none

Best Uses: Salt Water, Ice Fishing, Fresh Water, Traveling
