I picked this rod up based upon the reviews of other TFO rods on the market, the company's reputation, and the no fault warranty on the rod. I really wanted an upgrade from the aventa I started with, and knew I wanted a 2 piece. So this rod seemed like it would be a good choice.
I was hopeful that the rod would have a good backbone, and a forgiving tip for lighter leader, and found the rod has exactly that!
My thoughts on this rod is that it is ideal for steelhead, in a wider space, with lower flows. I have hooked up with a couple of salmon on this rod already, and was actually able to handle them nicely. With that said, this rod does have a very solid backbone, but you can't be afraid to push the rod to show it. This is not an ultra fast pool cue rod. The top 3rd of the rod is all forgiveness, the mid section is a nice buffer zone, and the bottom have has all the guts.
It is a light weight rod, and the 2 pc makes it easy to fold in half, and walk down the trail; much more so than a 3 pc. However, keep in mind transportation and storage of such a long rod.
In summary. AWESOME rod in my honest opinion. Knowing that I have the no fault warranty in my back pocket makes me confident that I will be running a TFO float rod for quite some time.
Pros: light, Strong Backbone, Soft Tip, 2 pc travel for walking thru woods, quality build, appearance
