I can't believe the difference a good rod makes. I was using a Berkely "Amp" rod and not even feeling any Saugeye bites, my friend was using a St.Croix "Triumph" and had his limit. He let me use his rod and immediatly I caught a fish. I just received my new "Triumph" and got my limit of 6 Saugeyes. I have the 7' 2 piece medium light action. The only complaint is that the reel seat tightening screw untwist very easily while I am fishing.
The Triumph TRS60LF is a good rod for fishing 1/32-1/4 oz presentations on 2-6 lbs line. It has more of a medium-fast action and subdued backbone, which allows it to be used effectively below its factory specs. The blank feels and fishes between a L power and an UL power, so it may be a bit disappointing if used at the high end of its ratings. The sensitivity is good and it balances well with 1000 size spinning reels. The components and craftmanship appear to be flawless. I use it primarily for panfishing with jig and bait combinations. but it could also be used as a light smallmouth or walleye rod, or for trout.
