The Sheffield DRII Float Rods are constructed on high modulus three piece IM9 graphite blanks. These rods are available with either a fixed reel seat or with slip rings that allow the reel to be placed anywhere on the handle for that perfect balance. The handles are constructed of premium cork rings with rubberized cork accent rings and rounded cork butts. Both models feature Fuji Alconite new concept guides. The fixed reel seat model sports a wood reel seat. The Sheffield DRII Float Rods come in a protective cloth sock.

Longer rods provide excellent control when float fishing, allowing longer drifts and better hook sets. The Sheffield DRII 13' 4" float rods are an ideal choice for the salmon and steelhead float angler on both the Great Lake tributaries as well as the West Coast rivers and streams.

Great Rod for the price

About Me:
For under $250 this is a great rod. I'm not sure what the previous reviewer was expecting for the cost. I think it absolutely delivers. Its not as "whippy" as some of the other starter float rods that are on the market. It has enough backbone to allow you to get aggressive while fighting larger fish. I have large hands so I absolutely love the larger cork handle. In fact, I only will purchase rods with thinker rod butts now. I'm very hard on my gear and don't take the best care of my DRII, yet, it is still in great condition and has minimal signs of wear n' tear. It always performs as desired and does not show any signs of malfunction any time soon. You will love this rod for the cost!

Pros: comfortable grip, great backbone, wears well, just an ideal starter float rod for the price

Durable but bulky

About Me:
none

I've only used this rod a few times but it feels like a hyped up noodle rod.  It's too heavy for the pound test it's rated for and one of the guides is already loose at the wrap.  I liked the "custom look" of the cork handle but found it to be too thick in diameter for a long outing.  I'm guessing that the rod is durable but I don't believe it's worth the price.

Pros: probably a durable rod, fixed reel seat

Cons: bulky, cheap construction

Best Uses: float fishing
