 >  > Schooley's Spring Bobber Pole, Reel and Accessories
Description

This is a great package for light ice fishing. It includes a Schooley's spring bobber pole in either a 21", 26", or 40" length, a jig pole reel with an adjustable drag, pre-spooled with line, a reel line marker pin, a rod stand and even an ice fishing jig.

The reel may be either red, yellow or green in color. The 26" and 40" rods are a bit stiffer than the 21" rod, but all are designed for panfish.

About Me:

This is my first season ice fishing (stocked trout in a small lake), so I got the simplest gear possible. The Schooley is easy to use, easy to maintain and super effective. The spring bobber is super-sensitive and doesn't ice up and sink like a traditional bobber. I've caught scads of trout and bluegill with this rod, and I can't wait to try it from a dock or canoe. Well worth the 8 bucks.
Pros: cheap, easy to use, effective

I purchased based on other good reviews. It seems rather cheaply made, but for the price I won't complain. I plan to mainly use it as a spare or back up rod when fishing for panfish in a shallow lake - I doubt it would be very good for much more, but why spend more for something as simple as panfish? Really, for the price it's pretty sweet that you get the whole setup - rod, reel, line, spring bobber, and they even included a teardrop jig!

the best rod money can buy for ice fishing! great for panfish, but can also handle the bigger ones to with no problem. could use a longer handle to reel with when you have gloves on, the depth pin gets in the way.still it's the only rods i use.
Pros: easy to use
Cons: real knob could be a bit longer

About Me:

Good basic rig for shallow to medium depth(up to about 20') panfish rig. Trouble free and durable. I've used the 26" combo for years, and just bought a couple of the 40" rigs for hole hopping outside the shack. I use spinning rigs from time to time, but keep coming back to the Schooleys for the durability and ease of use. The only downside, which is minor for me, is they don't have quite the action of a higher dollar rod,but the simplicity and lack of problems more than make up for it. The one thing I would like to change is to have a wooden handle instead of the plastic, even if it cost a little more.
Pros: Trouble free, Lightweight, Durable, Easy To Transport
Cons: Cheap plastic handle
Best Uses: Shallow water panfishing, Ice Fishing
An excelent combo.

About Me:

I bought this rod to fish lightweight jigs on light line. It's a pretty slick little rig and you can't beat the price. It comes spooled with line (it looks to be 6 lb test or so and was too heavy for my application, though the yellow line is pleasantly very visible on the ice) and a little ice jig as well. The only thing lacking would be a tiny loop built in to hook the miniscule ice hooks for transport. Other than that I couldn't be happier. By the way, the shipping was absurdly fast. Got my order just a couple days after placing it.
Pros: Great value, Good Tip Action
Cons: none

About Me:

This is a great pole for kids and adults. During a light bite the spring bobber is excellent for detecting those fussy fish which makes it easier and more successful for the kids to catch fish and have fun doing so. It's also tough enough to handle anything the kids can dish out and it's very easy for them to use.

I wanted a spring bobber to add to my rod tip at times. Mainly for light biting crappie. One of my rods the clip didnt fit through the guide. So I had to twist the spring with pliers and mount it upside down.I carry small zip ties & put one around the clip to cinch it.It definatly improved my catching.
Pros: Easy instalation
Cons: none
Best Uses: Light biting fish

We purchased these for our boys. They are 4, 5, and 9, We have not had a tangled line yet as we use the tip-up line for these poles. I also love them as the energy level is extreme pulling up a fish by hand rather then using a reel! We will be purchasing many more in the future!

wish i would have known about these years ago. great rig for ice fishing. just need to be careful with the "spring bobber". can't just throw a bunch of them in your bucket with your other gear. there is also an optional attachable rod holder that i have not made my mind up about whether it is good or not. takes up more room to store and transport. everyone should have several.

I have always enjoyed ice-fishing, but I never made an investment in a lot of gear because I live at the southern fringe of dependable ice-fishing. But the last two years we've had good ice, for at least a few weeks and I decided to take advantage of the opportunity. I bought Schooley's spring-bobber rods because they were inexpensive and appeared simple to use, for someone who was not skilled at ice fishing. My guess proved right. These rods are easy for anyone to use, but they are all you need to catch sunfish, crappie and perch. I don't feel the need to get anything more sophisticated. Sometimes, simplicity is the best approach. Thanks for a good product.
