I finally got to fish this reel and put it to the test on some big water steelhead. It worked great. Very smooth and performed very well in handling fish, but even more importantly was how it performed in spooling line during the long casts that I was making. It did great! I was fishing this reel on a 14' rod and I was making casts around 35 to 40 yards. I would certainly recommend this reel to anyone wanting a quality centerpin that comes with a 5 year warrenty. Just be very cautious around sand! I stood the rod while preparing to release a fish and the river splashed water that had some very small sand mixed in it. This created some issues for the reel in casting as well as performing all together until the reel dried.
I love it, Start is great (even with 3 gr float) and it's lite.Form the other side it looks reliable.
I also have a sheffield which I like but this reel feels a bit lighter and has an easier start up. Thats really nice in slower flowing tribs but the reel also has a tension knob which allow more restitance to be added if that is desired for faster flows and heavier setups. It has fewer peices and less small porting which makes the reel much easier to clean. The stem on vectra is a little shorter than the sheffield which might take some getting used to but overall it seems like a solid reel.
reel passed my test lande my first S/H yesterday
