PowerPro Braided Spectra Fiber Line is not affected by salt water, UV rays, or most chemicals and solvents. The life of PowerPro line is much longer than monofilament lines (as a rule of thumb, it lasts five times the life of monofilament line). In fact, depending on how much and where you fish, PowerPro could last two to three fishing seasons or longer. With PowerPro, you have more fish in the boat, and less bait lost – you’ll find that you’re actually money ahead.

Spectra Fiber is composed of polyethylene, a very slick plastic. In fact, the only material that is slicker than Spectra is Teflon. Spectra, combined with PowerPro's Enhanced Body Technology, makes a rounder and smoother line, which is gentler on rod guides than the older style braids.

Spectra has a specific gravity of 0.98 g/cc – just a hair lighter than water. Unlike heavier nylon and Dacron lines that sink, PowerPro will tend to stay at the surface. This means that you’ll get faster control of your fish after a strike with less belly in the line.

Additional specifications of this line are as follows:

  • Allows for longer, smoother casts
  • Enhances handling on any reel
  • Superior knot performance
  • Resists burying in the spool
  • Near zero stretch
  • Incredible strength - 10X stronger than steel
  • No reel memory
  • Won't cut guides

We stock PowerPro Braided Spectra Fiber BULK Line in 10, 15, 30, and 50 pound tests in 1500 yard spools. This line is available in Hi-Vis Yellow. Hi-Vis Yellow is great for those times when you need to be able to see the line and the fish are not affected by line color.

This line is much thinner than monofilament. The equivalent diameter of each pound test in monofilament are as follows:

Lb. Test
PowerPro
1015203050
Eq. Dia.
Mono
246812

This is super for jigging as it's very high sensitivity and high visibility allows you to feel and or see light bites you might have otherwise missed, not to mention casting distance being further than like rated lines, or lures fishing deeper due to less line thickness, etc. It has infinite uses, but in the right application it is awesome. Power Pro is a good line, though other braids may be better in certain applications.

Pros: High visability

Cons: The usual braid issues.

Best Uses: Sensitivity, Tough extractions

I use this line on all of my reels from my ultra light to my channel cat rig. This line doesn't feel like your standard braid - it feels more like dental floss. It's extremely strong, spools well on any reel, Great price when bought on a bulk spool.

Pros: Ties nice knots, No memory, Doesn't feel like braid, Smooth Casting

Cons: none

Best Uses: Works well with all reels
