Description

The Okuma Trio High Speed Spinning Reels feature an innovative design that breaks the mold of standard spinning reel construction. Okuma's unique "Crossover Construction" takes the the best attributes from traditional materials such as aluminum and graphite and uses them to create durable yet lightweight fish reeling machines.

The Trio features a solid, one piece stamped aluminum reel stem and rotor arm paired with a lightweight rotor housing and side plates providing strength where needed and weight reduction where possible. The Trio's spool features multi-piece construction, housing the drag system in an aluminum drag chamber for added stability and smoothness, while utilizing a lightweight graphite material for further weight reduction. These reels also include ultra smooth 9BB+1RB stainless steel bearing performance, a beefed-up dual force drag system and a high-speed 6.2:1 gear ratio.

About Me:

This is my third Okuma reel and my second high speed one. If you fish in situations that require fast moving baits, this is an excellent reel. It has a smooth and very fast return and appears to be very solid and durable. I have been using lighter weight Fireline (8 lb) and have not gotten much in the way of line tangles or twists. I like to use buzzbaits and also burn spinnerbaits. This reel provides a very quick return which takes a lot of the effort out of that style of fishing. I have used my other Okuma reels for years and the TRIO seems to be made with the same high quailty and durability. The only reason that I did not give this reel a 5-rating is that the bail, on occasion, has a tendancy to be hard to flip. Since this is sporadic, it is only a minor irritation.
Pros: Reliable, Smooth Drag System, Line Doesn't Tangle, Smooth Reeling, Easy Casting, Durable
Cons: Bail Flip
Best Uses: Shore Casting, Ocean Fishing, Fast Lure Fishing, River Fishing, Jigging
Great Reel, best I've ever used.

I use this product for casting stingsilver lures for Spanish Mackeral using 8 lbs test line. Throws them so far you can't see it hit the water. The 6.2 retrieve is what the Dr. ordered for these fish as they like a fast moving bait.
Pros: Excellent, Line Doesn't Tangle, Durable, Smooth Drag System, Easy Casting, Reliable, Smooth Reeling
Cons: none
Best Uses: Ocean Fishing

This reel is just as good in freshwater as it is in saltwater. Where you stop reeling is where it stays, there is no partial reverse to allow slack in your line. I currently use it with a St. Croix rod and the sensitivity of the combo is impressive. I use braided line a lot of times and the reel makes a slight noise with it. This is not a big deal, just my personal preference would be quiet.
Pros: Smooth Reeling, Reliable, Easy Casting, Smooth Drag System, Durable
Cons: Must manually flip bell
Best Uses: River Fishing, Ocean Fishing

This feels like a robust high quality reel at a good price. I'm not sure about the soft-touch knob on the reel handle, it's comfortable to use but I hope it stands up to years of use like I think the rest of the reel will.
Pros: Attractive, Smooth Drag System, Smooth Reeling
Cons: none
Best Uses: Ocean Fishing

Haven't had a new reel in years. Casting and reeling really nice on the Tri 55S. Think I might have overspooled the line on this. Using 12lb test with about 1/4" left on hub showing. Sometimes seems to miss a feed and leave a loop. Maybe it's something I'm doing. Love the feel though. I really like the ability to adjust the drag easily while a fish is on and change the play quickly. Very adaptive. Still learning to use so will give it more time. Casts nicely and grabs quickly when first closing the loop ring. Hand/fingers fit well over the stem. Very smooth and quiet return wind. Nice reel.
Pros: Durable, Reliable, Easy Casting, Smooth Drag System, Smooth Reeling
Cons: Twists Line, Tangles Line
Best Uses: River Fishing, Shore Casting, Trolling, Jigging
