About Me:

For the last three years I have been salmon fishing with the Mustad 36890 fly hooks. I decided give the R90NP-PR hooks a try because the 36890's seemed to bend too easy, causing the loss of many good fish.  They are a little shorter, but definitely much stronger, and just as sharp. I did lose flies, but not due to a bent hook. I especially liked the turned down eye, it seemed to pull the hook into a deep hook set. There was no way to bend these hooks on a fish. My initial concern was the slightly shorter shank, but the concern was quickly eased as I had no trouble hooking up to big fish. I am completely sold on these hooks for salmon. I will use the 36890's that I have for fly fishing a slightly smaller species.

Pros: Very strong.

Cons: None

Best Uses: none
