Accucast Ultralight Spinning Reels

The Accucast Series Ultralight Spinning Reels from HT Enterprises offer tremendous values in ultralight, front drag spinning reels. These reels are perfect for ice fishing with features such as an extended reel foot for easier use with the sliding rings found on some ice rod handles, longer necks to leave room for use with gloves or mittens and an increased angle which puts the spool in line with the guides of shorter ice rods.

We carry three Accucast Ultralight Spinning Reel models. Model ACR-106A features a 6 ball bearing drive and is gunsmoke in color.

Features of the Accucast Ultralight Spinning Reels include:

  • Balanced rotor design
  • 4 ball bearing on ACR-104A model
  • Graphite bodies
  • Aluminum spool on ACR-104A model
  • Ported, aluminum spool on ACR-106A model
  • Brass pinion gearing

I currently own four of the Accucast Ultralight Spinning reels and I have them all mounted on my icefishing rods.  I encourage anyone who goes ice fishing to invest in these reels.  They are very affordable but offer some best qualities as some of your most expensive reels.  Accucast Ultralight Spinning reels have a very smooth retrive, excellent drag, and plenty of room for a gloved hand during those cold icefishing days.

Pros: Durable , smooth reeling , great style

Cons: bail closes a little hard

Best Uses: ice fishing

I've used several 104 and 106 reels for ice fishing during the last 2 seasons and have had no problems with any of them. Smooth gears, smooth and reliable drag and antireverse, tight bail, tight construction, no freeze-ups, good balance and a great price. They just might be the best value around!

Pros: Everything works exactly as it should

Cons: None

Put this together with a short 18" rod. Really a good match, angle of reel lets line go out and in very nicely. I don't know what its called, but the bail doesn't go backwards at all when clicked on. This is really handy for one-handed fishing and a great feature.

Pros: Heavy angle toward the eyes , Well-made , very smooth

Cons: none

Best Uses: Panfish on an short ice rod

I bought 2 of these reels last year to try them.  They worked so well that I bought 2 more for this years season.  The other reels I was using would get too stiff to use in the cold weather.  These were made for cold weather use and have the extra long and angled neck for short pole use.  For the price on the 6 ball bearing reel it was a no brainer over cleaning and lubing the other reels with cold weather lube and then doing it again in the spring.  The drag works real nice and it is easy to adjust when fighting a fish.  The spool lock is located in the proper place when fighting a fish.  The only minor draw back is the bail system.  It works and little hard when cranking the handle.  For me that is a minor issue.  Fish USA is a great company to order from.  Very easy to order over the internet and fast shipping. It's nice to receive emails on where your order is and when to expect it.

Pros: Great style , 6 ball bearing reel for less then $20.00

Cons: bail is a little stiff to use

Best Uses: Ice Fishing , " over the side of the boat fishing"

I bought an ACR 102 to replace a very used and abused South Bend celsius reel. I do not believe lower cost means unuseable. I have only used this reel twice, but my initial impression is one of being satisfied, it feels quite smooth for a 2 bearing model and stayed smooth even in -18f weather.  I really like the tipped spool design, the drag is smooth and consistent and I have had no problem bringing in 12-14 inch kokanee and 14-18 inch Rainbow on it.  The only thing that concerns me is that the spool clicker is a sliver of plastic rather than spring loaded metal, but as of yet it has not failed.

Pros: Low Cost , Great Design , Smooth Reeling , Smooth Drag System

Cons: plastic spool clicker

Best Uses: Ice Fishing

Superb ice fishing reel, and doesnt cost a fortune. The plastic 102s arent very good, but the 104 and 106 are great. Ive been using 5 of the 104s for two winters now and havent had one problem with any of them below zero. They are as good as the Presidents I have, but are lighter and have smoother drag. The drag is incredibly smooth, you wont find better bang for your buck in a tiny reel. Seriously.

Pros: Light , Durable , Smooth Reeling , Line Doesn't Tangle , Reliable , Smooth Drag System

Cons: None

Best Uses: Jigging , Ice fishing

I was updating to an infinate anti-reverse ultralight reel for winter perch and panfish. Also will use for late summer vertical jigging. Appears to be a good smooth reel. I would recommend getting the ACR-104A for the additional ball bearings.
