G. Loomis Streamdance GLX Series Fly Rods

$640.00 - $690.00
The top of the line is the Streamdance GLX. These rods feature the finest rod components available today... luxurious cork, direct from Portugal, GLX graphite, in high performance, 3 and 4-piece rod blanks (depending on rod length). In addition, G. Loomis added a new reel seat, with an exclusive offset-oval sculptured barrel and a distinctively beautiful "California Buckeye Burl" insert. And with RECOIL guides made by REC from a special nickel titanium alloy, Streamdance GLX fly rods are not only beautiful to look at, but a delight to cast. These beautiful rods come with a Loomis rod tube and cloth sack.

The High Line Speed action offers much great versatility. They are moderately stiff with all but one having fast tapers, giving anglers extended casting distance, with a soft tip to cast well at short distances. They generate higher line speeds to help deliver casts in windy conditions. HLS rods were designed for the caster who tends to punch the cast and wants the fly to go straight to the target...a "stroke of power and performance".

About Me:

I wanted a 10' 5wt rod for Yellow Line Czech nymphing for rainbows & brown of up to 6lbs in bouldery runs. This rod has proved ideal with enough sensitivity to flick heavily weighted nymphs into the pockets. Unfortunately it broke on a snag after a few uses, but I received a replacement quickly & efficiently and have no more problems. Of course it also gets used for dry/nymph combos. It handles windy NZ conditions well and is also sensitive enough to hold small fish bouncing around on barbless hooks.

Pros: Accurate Casting, Good Tip Action, Easy To Transport, Sensitive

Cons: Breaks Easily

Best Uses: Fly Fishing, River Fishing, Czech Nymphing

My favorite rod for PA limestone streams. Excellent dry fly rod, handles nymph fishing surprisingly well. Biggest problem is that I let my son try it, and now every time we go fishing he tries to talk me in to letting him use it.

Pros: Sensitive, Accurate Casting

Cons: none

Best Uses: Fly Fishing
