G. Loomis Saltwater Popping Casting Rods were originally designed for casting live bait (mainly shrimp), under a popping cork out on the flats, but freshwater anglers have found many other uses for them as well. These rods have a relatively soft tip, which allows your bait to land softly and quietly, even on long casts, another plus when the water's skinny and the fish spook easily. At the same time, they're powerful rods, capable of handling surprisingly large fish. The top four guides and tip-top feature oversized rings to handle large knots for shock tippets.

PR844C (GL2, GLX) - Like its spinning counterpart, this is a good all-around flats rod, working well for most small live bait as well as spoons and jigs. Although not recommended for large fish, anglers have taken tarpon, sharks and large snook with this rod on occasion.
PR845C (GL2) - Designed to offer flats fisherman a little stronger action for larger redfish and permit, but it has fast become the rod of choice for striper fishermen throwing crankbaits. It isn't an overpowering rod, but it has more than enough strength to handle fish up to 15 or 20 pounds in relatively heavy current, and even fish in lakes or slack tidal conditions.
