Fortune and Fury, features the story of commercial fishing on Lake Erie and includes the history of commercial fishing, information on fish species and the stories of the people who fished this Great Lake. Erie, Pennsylvania, often referred to as "The Freshwater Fishing Capital of the World", serves as the setting for this book but, stories, boats, harbors and fishermen from all over the Lake Erie region are discussed.
Fortune and Fury includes hundreds of b&w photos and includes tales of shipwrecks, gale-force winds, adventures, innovations and tragedies as well as many amazing stories that illuminate an amazing history and future to come for this sustainable fishery.
Authors:
David Frew is a lifetime resident of Erie, Pennsylvania, a sailor and an author of over thirty books. He is currently a visiting professor at Mercyhurst College, emeritus director of the Erie County Historical Society and a professor emeritus at Gannon University.
Jerry Skrypzak is a retired detective lieutenant with the Erie Police department where he served as the department's CSI. Jerry is also the president of the S.O.N.S. of Lake Erie fishing club, and has spearheaded dozens of restoration and preservation projects.
