Fenwick HMX
Salmon & Steelhead Spinning Rods

Fenwick HMX Salmon & Steelhead Spinning Rods feature a dual-tapered graphite blank design with cross-scrim construction, perfect for the high-strain that Salmon & Steelhead put on rods. Cross-scrim layering adds to the strength of the rods butt section while enhancing the rods overall action. The HMX rods also feature lightweight DPL guides from Pac Bay with TiCH inserts for precision casting and durability.

HMX Salmon & Steelhead Spinning Rods feature fine-grade cork handles with graphite reels seats. Models HMXS 83ML-2G-F, HMXS 90L-2G-M and HMXS 106XL-2G-M feature uplocking "Michigan Style" handles with longer fore grips and shorter rear grips. Models HMXS 86L-2-MF and HMXS 90M-2-M features standard handles with downlocking reel seats.

About Me:
  • Avid Fisher
I have used one of these rods for several years on the Rogue River fishing for summer steelhead and salmon. Most of the fish are "half pounders" but occasionally I hook BIG steelhead and occasionally a 15-25 pound salmon. This rod has held up remarkably well while playing some of these big fish.......sometimes a 20 minute or longer battle! This rod is the second I've purchased in case I break the first one I've had for at least 4 years. I fish several times a week during the summer months on the Rogue so this rod gets a lot of hard usage.

Pros: Flexible , Sensitive , Durable , Good Tip Action , Lightweight

Cons: None

Best Uses: Large Fish , River Fishing

About Me:
  • Avid Fisher
I have used this rod (8'3' ML) for the last 5 years river fishing for American Shad in the spring. I have landed literally hundreds of fish up to 6.5 lbs. in heavy current. Have caught several 15+ stripers with not a problem. Many snags and break offs without any rod damage are a testament to it's toughness. Only had to replace the tip due to grooving from braid this season, no big deal. I love this rod so much that I bought another last year just for backup. I would strongly recommend these rods.

Pros: Accurate Casting , Easy To Transport , Durable

Cons: None

Best Uses: River Fishing , Large Fish
