I just got my Eagle Claw - Trailmaster 7' 6-piece rod. This is a replacement for my favorite lake-stream rod of 30+ years. My old rod was stolen or misplaced. I have own a few other rods, but this one is built well and has the good ol familiar "snap" is have found so helpful landing 20-30" mountain trout. This rod is excellent. I highly recommend it to anyone backpacking. The six pieces pack down to 17 inches. When set up provides a sensitive strong rod.
Pros: 17" pack size, flexibility, craftsmanship
Cons: none
Best Uses: Backpacking, mountain trout

This is an old boy scout secret weapon. It is the back up rod I stuff in my backpack when I go to the Wind River Range in WY, just in case I break my fancy pants Sage rod. It may not be as precise or fast as an expensive fly rod, but it's still a pleasure to use. The 7.5' length makes it a great stream rod when you are dealing with a lot of foliage. And then there are those super windy days when a spinning rod and a panther martin is the only weapon. Last year I tail hooked a 21" brown pig. It took me 20 minutes to land. This rod held up just fine. I have broken a tip bushwacking (it would have broken any rod tip). WM replaced it !... lifetime warranty, so just remember to keep the proof of purchase. Its a no brainer.
