About Me:
This not a $100 dollar rod, but it favorably compares to higher priced models and it delivers in functionality. I like Eagle Claw rods for their value. The Black Eagle's are hard to find and Fish USA's customer service can't be beat. Some reviewers remark about the guides being "flimsy", but they actually have a nice little flex to them which contributes to the sensitivity of the rod and cushions a lighter line during fights.

Pros: Build, Looks, Fuctionality

Cons:

Best Uses: Steelhead, Smaller Salmon

Awesome Rod! I bought both Eagle Claw rods just to have a comparrison. I love the quick tip action of this medium rod. The long cork handle provided excellent grip as well as stability. I landed plenty of 20# plus salmon using this rod with no issues.

I have owned the black eagle rod in a few lengths and am very satsified with the product. I use this rod for steelhead fishing on many of the columbia river tributaries. It has a great feel, comfortable, and well balanced for all day casting.

I was initially concerned that the line guides may whine when used with the Berkley Fireline that I have on my reel. As it turned out, this has not been an issue at all. I will say that the guides are not the most stout in terms of getting moved or bent, but it all depends on how you treat, package, transport the rod. Due to this not being a manuracturing "issue" I couldn't mark it as anything deficient in rating the product.

All in all, I am very happy that I was able to get this rod, as they seem to be harder and harder to come by.

Pros: Handles fish very well, Sensitive

Cons: Flimsy guides

Best Uses: Steelhead

About Me:
Long-time fisherman

I've been using the smaller BEG200-7' Black Eagle rods for some time and really like them.  So, I was pleased to find these larger rods available at FishUSA.  The Black Eagles are very nice rods and offer a great value with all the features of much more expensive rods.  The BEG201 rods have what it takes to go after larger fish or for certain circumstances where some extra rod length comes in handy.
I'm looking forward to many years of use from these rods.
Thank you, FishUSA!  Your service, shipping and speed of delivery was great.

I fish the surf in Southern Cal for Perch, Corbina, Croaker , and anything else that may incidently swim by.This rod is great for carolina riging gulp baits and natural presentations. Plenty of backbone, light, and attractive I might add. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the line guides are a bit weak. But hey, it was [$] !
