About Me:
Have been buying these rods for many years!! Both myself and friends use these for fishing the mouth of the Klamath River and for bobber/float rods. Has the backbone to handle large fish and can take up lots of line when used as a bobbler/float rod. I have also used the rod in the ocean as downrigger rod and from the shore perch fishing. Fairly inexpensive cost, and have yet to break a rod on a fish. Great rod for cost and durability!!! Would recommend to anyone wanting a rod with some beef behind it. I also have the same rods in shorter models and use them for back bouncing and pulling plugs.

Pros: Cost and Strength

Cons: None

I had never fished a Daiwa rod but for the price I thought I would give them a try.  My recent trip allowed me to fish for both kokanee and large lake trout.  These rods were sensitive enough to detect the smaller kokanee but enough backbone to also set the hook on large lakers!  I love these rods and will be purchasing more in the near future!

Pros: Sensitive

This is a great rod for wire dipsy use. With a twili tip it gives years of great service. It's got enough backbone to handle big divers, and big fish, yet not so stiff as to kill the fight of smaller ones. For the money these Heartlands can't be beat. The green color is nice as well.I've had a few of these and all have been great rods.

Pros: Durable, Great wire dipsy rod

Cons: none

Best Uses: Great rod for king salmon, Large Fish

I bought my first Heartland in 2004, and still use it. It has caught countless salmon (kings and silvers) on downriggers. It has held up to abuse for all those years, and has a better feel to me than other brands I have tried. Also, the guides have held up. That's why I have purchased more, and the newer ones are even better. These rods handle #25-30 pound salmon without problems. They would probably do fine with larger ones, but since I haven't personally experienced that, I won't comment. These are ALWAYS the rods I grab when trolling for salmon in salt water off the Kenai Peninsula and Prince William Sound.

Pros: Sensitive, Flexible, Durable

Cons: none
