Berkley Trilene Cold Weather monofilament line is ideal for tip-ups, ice reels or any other cold water fishing situation. This line features extraordinary flexibility with a low-memory design that resists twisting and tangling. The improved formula is as flexible at 32°F as regular mono is at 70°F.
We offer Trilene Cold Weather line in 110 yard pony spools in 2 pound test through 10 pound test. The Electric Blue color provides maximum visibility against ice and snow.
I purchased a filler spool of this line to fill an ultralight baitcaster and an ultralight spinning reel for ice fishing, last season I had both spooled with Cajun Red Ice (a very good line for the $) This year I was unable to find any Cajun Red Ice. This Trilene Cold Weather is some of the worst line I have ever used. The memory of this stuff was like a slinky, jumping off the reels and making bird's nests. In sub-zero temps the line became like wire, stiff and nearly unfishable (I guess cold weather means above zero?) After only 5 trips the length of line that had been routinely submerged began to turn a dull milky color and seemed to lose strength. perhaps I just got a bad spool, but I am not taking the chance on this stuff again. I have respooled with P-Line Evolution that I had laying around (this is not even an ice line) and had no problems with it.
I really enjoy the ice blue line, even though I do not use it for ice fishing. Its very cold in Big Bear lake in Socal and the low temp makes it easy to knick regular mono.
